The TCD/VW Express (me and Debbie and Vic) left Pinewoods before noon and we decided to prolong the feel of the week by stopping by an ocean beach near Plymouth. Thanks to Debbie, who remembered to take her camera along, we have a record of that visit. I wish I'd gotten a pic of the beach roses that we parked next to, but really it was their heady aroma that I remember, and (so far) there's no way to capture and share that. We lunched at a nice beach-side restaurant and then drove away, finally admitting that the week was done. We left Debbie at her sister's house in Lexington (and had no trouble following the GPS instructions this time!), then I drove Vic to Concord, MA where he was going to dance at the Scout House and stay a night before returning to NC. From there I drove to Hopkinton, MA (26 miles west of Boston) to spend a week with old friends Kate and Morrie. They have a great house by a lake with lots of room for me to stay. The first day was pretty much washing clothes and resting, but after that, Kate and I visited Janet (her sister) and Brooks, and took a trip to her studio. We also had great fun playing tennis, eat out a few times (and had some great meals at home too), had lots of good talking time and took turns teaching each other new games. I taught Kate the "four letter word game", at which she excelled, and she taught me backgammon, which I'd need to play a lot more before I felt I really "got it". Their grandson Dylan was with us for a couple of days, one of which we spent at a local lake. His friend Bella came along, so I had the fun of playing with two eight year olds in the water. Good stuff. On the last day, Dylan shot some pretty nice photos on my camera. After about a week, it was time for Kate to head to Canada for a week of painting, and I was ready to get back to dancing. That morning, I waited for her brother Tony to arrive so I could say "hi/bye", then drove to Keene, NH to set up camp in the driveway of an old friend for the several weeks of dancing in New England. |
