African Drumming at CDW

The drums were beautiful - a strange mix of old&natural (animal skin heads) and new&artificial (climbing rope!). Jubal uses the traditional method of weaving the rope to secure the heads, making a pattern that fascinated me.

We learned four "notes" (bass, tone, slap and flam) and one three-part dance song, and we learned how to start and stop together. Pretty good for five hours and 16 to 18 adults in the room :)
