Here's the beached sailboat as seen from a house's boardwalk near Avon Pier, looking south. |
This was the view from the other side of the sand dune. |
It was very strange to see a 40-something foot sailboat on the beach. |

The owner was still trying to figure out someway to winch it around, but his keel was sunk into the sand. |
There were lots of folks on the dunes, watching and sharing information. Now and then someone took the guy some coffee or food. |
It made me too sad to watch, so I walked away. |
