Pilot Knob, near Lake George, NY

Here are some some closeups from my hike up Pilot Knob.

This 200+ acres is a relatively recently created preserve. It had nice trails, including a waterfall that I failed to find ('cuz I didn't take a map).

The path was initially pretty flat but got steep and a little confusing, since there were so many apparent paths, but I eventually got good at spotting the orange tree tags.

This was the big pay-off: a gazebo that afforded a stunning view of the lake.

From treetops to mountain-tops. Very restful. It was interesting to look at the houses through my binoculars. I picked out my favorite: wood-sided with lots of windows toward the lake, and decks on both floors.

To the right, the lake heads north.

The down-side of the loop started out as a road - nice for my knees. I noticed that the color for this week seemed to be yellow.
