This property was originally a fancy hotel that was later purchased by the YMCA to be used for leadership training. It's on the Registry of Historical Sites - for good reason! |
Pretty, isn't it? Note the rockers on the porch - something I'd always thought of as a Southern tradition, but with the view of the lake, it makes sense here too. |
Next week the trees will make this even more specatular. Note the stonework on the columns. |

I was on the top floor. Very nice space with an angled ceiling, and I only had to go down the hall for the bath, which felt luxurious after my 0.2 mile separation at the last campground. |
The view from the porch on Saturday afternoon. As you see, the trees aren't "showing" much yet. |
There was a boat house... |
|
... and boats, but I didn't have time, nor was the weather all that inviting. |
This is the boat house as seen from the docks. See: more rockers! We waltzed here at midnight, with a fire indoors and s'mores available. |
Dancing was in Fisher Gymnasium. It was a great setup: contras on the lakeside, couples dancing in the other gym, and snacks inbetween. Lots of big windows made for a happy daytime dance space. |
|
I took this shot to try to record the highest ceiling I've ever seen in a gym! And I do love the wood. |
This illustrates the theme for the Saturday night dance. The most outrageous costume was Fred, who dressed to the 9's as a Norweigen ice skater. As contrast, Diane looked good in her dance outfit. There were numerous bicyclers, one of whom waltzed with his bike. |
Here's me with Fred on Sunday without the outfit :-) |
|
Sunday morning was foggy, which was hard to catch with my camera so I did some iPhoto-ing. Still, you have to have prior experience to appreciate the cozy low cloud feel. |
By the end of the day on Sunday the air was clear, and the view would have been quite breath-taking if dancing hadn't already put me on that plane. |
My final look at the inn as seen from the dance hall. |
|
And finally, on my last walk between the dancing and the inn, the wind picked up and showed the vertical Tibetan peace flags. A nice way to end a lovely weekend. |
My first attempt at serious editing. Not great, but it's a start :-) |
