Tuesday and Wednesday were busy with chores (clothes washing, van organizing, web page making, grocery shopping, foot massaging) but no dancing. I did take some long walks around Keene, both the town and the college. Pretty place. Then Thursday: back to dancing! Wild Asparagus was playing in Concord, MA, so even though it's long drive (80 minutes), I went and this time I took took more photos than on my first visit. As before, it was an excellent dance and it was fun to see folks from the Dawn Dance who were still, like me, a little dazed. My trip to Pinewoods to help with the close-down was postponed due to weather, so on Friday I danced at Greenfield to Moving Violations. I forgot to take my camera so no photos, but a great dance. The fiddlers in this group are clearly also classical violinists, and they had a few duets/duels to prove it! Lisa Greenleaf was calling: always a treat. It was a great dance. After the dance was a traditional trip to the Green River to cool off. Unfortunately, local police followed us out of the park. It wasn't posted, but the local folks knew that the park closed at dark, so, yeah, we were in violation. Fortunately for me, I was in the lead car, and the police only stopped the last car. I hope they got off with a warning. My fellow front-car-folks were feeling bad, but as they said to me: no point in turning myself in, especially being from out-of-state, since a citation probably would mean a court appearance - and I might not be in-state on the court date. Too bad. But it was a nice cooling dip. On Saturday I gave up a second dance with Wild Aspargus to dance in Peterborough, since one of my goals is to dance in as many different places as I reasonably can. It was a nice local dance, not real exciting, but worth the trip. Sunday I couldn't find a local dance, so I did some more heavy-duty resting (including the consumption of a junk-food book by James Patterson :-) and then took a twilight walk in Chesterfield Gorge. Nicely kept trails and beautiful water. I hope I find time to go back. |
