Day 3: Montpelier

Once I decided to dance at New Acadia Farm on Friday, it was an easy choice to go on up to Montpelier for Saturday's dance. OK, so maybe it was knowing I could dance to Crowfoot, a band from Maine that I've always enjoyed, with Adina calling, that helped me decide to dance at New Arcadia. Either way: it was the right thing to do.

After spending most of Saturday walking the New Acadia land, I drove to Montpelier in time to find the Capital City Grange (which is tucked away, up a steep driveway, under a very high overpass, and I'm really glad that Robin at New Acadia gave me directions to supplement my GPS!) and took a short nap before the dance started.

I was surprised at home many dancers I recognized, from my short time dancing in New England. This was a fine, fine dance.

I got there too late to get a good photo of the outside, but the walls inside were lined with very nice quilts, so this will have to do.

This is Crowfoot. Really great band. Not such a great photo... except it does, somehow, help me to remember their inner light.

At the left you see (barely, due to bad photo) Adina Gordon, the caller for the night, before she changed into her cool calling duds.

Here you can see more of the quilts...
and some of the great dancers.

It was a great dance - good energy, nice floor,
lots of familiar faces. Well worth the trek north.

Here's a waltz - always dreamy with Crowfoot.
Note Adina in her dress up clothes, with Owen Marshall (a talented young musician) who wore a polyester suit! Yes! All night, although, as you see, at some point he rolled up the sleeves.
