| Day 4: Brattleboro Dawn Dance, Labor Day 2008

I've heard about these marathon dances for years. Folks wear the T-shirt all over the US, and it is quite recognizable. For one, it is unusual among dance T-shirts in that it has no date, and so is timeless. It's also very nicely done. The idea of dancing all night is appealing, especially when great bands and skilled callers and excellent dancers are promised. And it was all I had hoped for. Actually doing the dance was less difficult than I'd expected. I had slept late on Sunday morning (which was easy, since I'd driven back from Montpelier) and also got a nap in the afternoon. To help keep my muscles and joints happy, I did a lot of stretching, including a couple of 30 minute breaks in my camper, where I could lay down and rest my back. So yeah, I met the morning with a smile. Recovering, on the other hand, was more noticeable than I'd expected. For several days, I felt kind of fuzzy and was glad that I didn't have to be coherent in front of students :-) |

See the line up of bands and musicians? A slice of heaven, for sure.
I did get some photos but will also be on the lookout for folks who will post better ones, so I can point you to them. |
