Lake Fausse Point State Park on the coast of Louisiana

Some of the camp sites had water on three sides, but I found one that was relatively dry.

The park was well designed, with about six miles of walkways through the swamp.

The swamp water was dark and thick, but not smelly - and in the month of January, not buggy either!

A sign said that you might hear an alligator in this part of the swamp... but I never did.

Cypress knees.

The still water made for great photos.

The blue sky made the water seem nicer than it really was.

It's fun to try to figure out which is real and which is reflected.

There were canoe-access camp sites deep in the swamp.

A white tree on a blue sky always pulls at me.

Roots!

Vine-wrapped bark.
