Aliso Loop Trail in Los Padres National Park near Santa Barbara

This five mile trail was recommended by the ranger as one of the prettiest.

It was a beautiful day for a long hike.

The mountains here are covered with bushes, with lots of exposed rock.

The lack of trees reveals the shape of the mountains. I keep thinking of feet under light weight blankets.

This is pretty typical of the trail.

The openness of the trails are still a surprise to me.

This was my first view of that distant rock/mountain.

Another view...

And a third, using max zoom.

That's the Rancho Oso campground down in the valley.

This little stretch was so pretty, making me think of the descriptions I've read of Ireland.

I'd been walking uphill a long time, so was glad to see this crest ahead.

i wonder how much longer this tree will be able to stand up?

I like the fractal/binary nature of this tree's branches.

The sun was getting low so I was glad to be getting near the end of the trail.
