Stanley Park, Vancouver, British Columbia

This is Lord Stanley...

... who caused this park to be created in 1889.

Picturesque.

I was too early to see the formal roses, but some wild ones were lovely.

I walked inland to see this Shrinking Lake.

There were ducks, but not the other critters I'd hoped to see...

... although here's clear evidence that the beavers are hard at work!

A more patient photographer than I am was stalking this guy. I settled for the heads-down shot.

Vancouver is considered a model city in many ways, but very "vertical".

I liked the steps" on this building, used for patios, it seems.

I liked looking at the boats. And in the photo, the effect of the masts among the buildings is fun.

This is the boat house. Very classic.

I was surprised to find a cricket match at the far end of the park.

As you can see, the walking trail is great. Also note the blue heron.

No, this isn't a mermaid - just a female scube diver!
